The E1 European long-distance path in Germany
– Anyone who has walked from Alexanderschanze to Ziegelhausen has covered a good chunk of the E1 in Germany and has seen Odenwald and the Black Forest. Of course the places are not actually in alphabetical order along the E1 path. We have organised them in this order on our website so that you can find out easier if you have ever been to, or near to, the E1 path or whether you may have even stayed there. If, for example, you’ve taken some good pictures of these areas or their immediate surroundings when you’ve been on holiday, you could submit these for the E1|R1 Photo Award.
Because we’re lucky that the E1 and R1 intersect each other in the Homeland of Arminius we have a lot of photos from the blogger weekend in the Teutoburg Forest. Unfortunately we’re not allowed to participate, but we still like to show off our exploits.
With its 1,900 kilometre path from the Nordkapp in Norway through to Italy, while passing through Germany, the E1 crosses some of the most beautiful holiday regions. The Lüneburg Heath, the Sauerland and the Taunus are just a few of these. Numerous historical buildings, cultural highlights and towns such as Hamelin, Montabaur, Konstanz and the venerable Hanseatic city of Hamburg also offer countless photo opportunities.
