The photo contest on europe’s first long-distance trails

The winners of the E1 | R1 Photo Award 2021 have been announced!

There is a European long-distance trail for those hiking on foot (E1) as well as for those cycling (R1). They lead through Europe from north to south (E1) and from west to east (R1). They cross over in the Teutoburg forest near Detmold. Now the international photo contest goes to the third round. If professionals were allowed to participate in the premiere in 2018, the new edition of the photo contest is aimed exclusively at amateur photographers.

The contest was initiated by WALK, the Competence Center for Hiking in Detmold. It is backed by the German Hiking Association (DWV) and by the European Ramblers’ Association (EWV).

For hikers, cyclists and all who enjoy nature

1,400 great impressions from all countries along E1 and R1 reached us in 2018 as submissions to the first E1|R1 Amateur Photo Award. And with submissions from all 16 countries along the European long-distance trail E1 we could repeat this success despite Corona in 19/20. We are looking forward to experiencing the same commitment and enthusiasm again at the E1|R1 Amateur Photo Award 20/21! Together we want to make the first two European long-distance routes even more public aware. And of course, we reward the winners again with attractive prizes! So, grab the camera, get on the road and show us your view of Europe along the European long-distance routes E1 and R1!
